    What's the point of a setup like this and not overclocking it? 99% of people who had it would never leave it stock

            "Super-old computer"? WTF? I mean I have a bunch of 80286 and even older parts manufactured before '86. So comparing them to a dual socket LGA 771... The latter is super recent!

                If you get a crash like that in the future, theres a simple fix (probably just the same amount of work as signing out);
                Press Windows + Tab, create a new desktop, open Task Manager in that desktop, then force close the program that crashed on the first, then Win+Tab again, and close the second desktop. Makes it so you don't have to worry about any unsaved progress!

Firewire.... Apple supported it for a VERY long time; it mostly wasn't that great on PC's unless you were running continuous data streams (such as large backups to external drives). USB, even USB 2.0, was unreliable with that for a VERY long time.

                                                                                  Last year I bought a new computer for 4k including an G-Sync 4k monitor. The previous computer I owned I spent about 6k for all the bells (Extreme Processor) and whistles but upgraded video card to a 980GTX. Used that computer for 10 years. Computer ran great but I wanted a machine that got higher than 60 fps games. My wife now uses the old computer and she LOVES it. Thinks its a fast machine still after 10 years becasue she uses it to surf the Internet, download pictures from her camera, Photoshop the pictures, play civilization and solitaire, and watch netflix and youtube videos.

                                                                                  So I reckon that the wife's machine will get ANOTHER 10 years of use until I upgrade my current computer and she takes it yet again.

                                                                                  BTW my media server is also running on 10 year old motherboard, processor, memory, and SSD. I think the ARECA 24 Raid card is also about 10 years old ($1500) along with the SAS expander ($1800). I plan to replace the motherboard, processor, and memory this year not becasue they are not working well but because I think they are too slow for the increased demand of media,have been running 24/7 for 10 years, and I would rather I replace the parts on my terms before something fails at 2AM or when I need it the most since I do also use it for work.

                                                                                  • Revener666
