I'm going to take apart the Switch Lite on release day to see how it compares to the original and what was changed inside. Make sure you are subscribed for that, should be a fun video!

Tony Melo I already have a dock solution that works it’s just a matter of capability/throughput on whatever they did to disable or remove it (I hope they aren’t that dumb but it’s Nintendo)

Have you realized something? Both the lite and original switch release with a Zelda game.

I wonder how difficult it’s gonna be to work on those crappy joysticks when they start drifting !!!!

I'm really interested in seeing if they still use the same garbage, drifting sticks they use in the joy-cons (I can't believe they still sell these knowing they're absolute trash). If they use the same sticks as used in the joy-cons this new Switch is DOA.

As for the confusion about "no handheld mode": If you're using a set of detached joycons, then you're technically in tabletop mode. Handheld mode would be attaching the joycons to the tablet (on the original Switch), or using the built-in controls (on the Lite). Makes sense to me.

would you try to put it on a original switch dock to see if it works?

Hm, not gonna lie I want this, it works for my life style, I usually play my switch in bed, I handle held mode, I would love to get this lite switch and keep it in bed with me and keep my regular switch on the doc, I usually only use that console for splatoon or similar games

They retail the dock at 80 bucks, so removing the dock realistically puts you at 220, ok so no IR bits, or HD rumble. so 200, but removing the actual functionality of outputting to the tv I dislike, you should still be able to just usb-c extension cord into a dock and get on the tv, or have a new 'dock' for the lite, that you can buy separate, and use it on the tv with additional joycons or pro controller.

In Australia this thing is only $50 cheaper then the actual normal switch, so you matter of all just spend the little extra to get the normal one.

Should have atleast had tv mode. They are saving money with no detachable joycons, smaller footprint, no dock included and no power cable like what they do for 3Ds.

I haven't owned a home console since Super Nintendo. I totally love the idea of having console games on a handheld but couldn't commit to the switch.1) way too big to be considered a handheld. I mean come on, it IS portable but it's a tablet with detachable controls. 2) don't like rumble. I turned it off 3) I didn't want the docking system. 4) the system felt kind of "Bendy' not flimsy but you know, bendy. I'd be scared to death to drop that thing. 5)did NOT like the button style D-PAD. I understand why it's like that so totally necessary but not for me. so as you can see the switch light is going to be exactly what I want. and now I have something to replace my PS Vita the greatest handheld system ever created but then ignore by Sony. for me and handheld fans the world over. September 20th couldn't come fast enough.

                                                                            • Michael Comandatore

Nintendo is taking care of dedicated handheld fans and their 3DS base which is huge. 1) speaking for myself, I couldn't care less about the switch ability. Dedicated handheld fans don't particularly enjoy playing on TV anyway. 2) HD Rumble, big deal. 3) kickstand, slightly convenient but stupid. I've been watching movies on my PSP for 10 years. no kickstand. not that hard to prop up a handheld so quit making a big deal about it. 4) dedicated d-pad.YES! I suppose I'm an easy man to please cuz I love everything I've seen so far. No complaints here. I'll be ready on day one

                                                                                • Akiko Kasumi

I don't find it difficult to understand. Tabletop mode just means you need to hook up joycons. If you want to play 1 2 Switch game you need additional joycons to play on the Switch Lite.

                                                                                  • Brian Moore

This makes sense a cheaper version for people only buying it for personal use. Without all that tech in the joycons (which is impressive by the way) they can cut the cost. Now more people can enjoy these great games they have coming out.

Perfect addition for our home situation. I have had the Switch since launch, play both handheld and TV mode, as well as a multitude of different games. My wife however, has always been a handheld only gamer, playing more specific games like Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, Rune Factory and Fantasy Life, games that all work beautifully in handheld only mode. So, perfect for us and many others I would think.

Of all the new Switch customers who buy the Switch Lite, removing TV Output (and also Table top mode) greatly reduces the chance of them buying Pro Controllers, Joy Cons, and a TV Dock. Stupid decision on Nintendo's fault, lots of potential accessory sales now gone.

Hopefully they wise up and release a TV Dock designed for the Switch Lite.
