So true, I went to see my normal family doctor when I twisted my foot on the playground at school... he had me lie down when he realized that I wasn't feeling well ontop of that. My mom explained that I was having trouble keeping food down and had little energy as of late but wasn't running a fever. After a couple more questions he checks my blood sugar and has me do a urine test. He had me rushed to the ER where it was confirmed that I was a T1 and my numbers were so bad I would've died in my sleep that night.

There is a quote from confucianism that goes like this "“The gentleman considers the whole rather than the parts. The small man considers the parts rather than the whole.” I just thought about this quote when you said that doctors should look at the whole human rather than the one thing that the paticient is complaining about. I never thought too much about this quote and never really thought about what it meant, but it fits very well with this what you said because looking at the whole allows us preform our jobs with eficacy. A person who focuses on the the parts often misses the most important thing.🤯

Honey is bee barf, but it come out of a special second stomach. But only after it is mixed with enzymes to make honey. It only becomes honey after it dehydrates. So what ever it is, it comes out the bees mouth. Thank goodness it does not come out the other end. An example of that would be ambergris.

Had something similar happen to me last year, got an antibiotic injection (as preventative due to increased cases of Streptococcus in my workplace) and they did it in my thigh. 15 minutes later I noticed I lost all feeling in my leg at the injection point, mentioned it to the nurse, they brought me into a room and gave me a look over, doc determined it was nothing, but to go home and rest the leg over the weekend (this was on a Thursday) giving me Friday off. Within a few hours I was in intense pain in my leg and swelling took over, I went back to the doctor and they said most likely hit a nerve, but to just keep it rested. After about 6 hours of sweat inducing pain it went away, but my leg was pure lead. Unable to move or bend the knee, and it was rock hard to the touch. I waited until Monday and when it didn't resolve by then I returned to the doctor. They were stumped, but wanted to check me for Deep Vein Thrombosis, and directed me to the clinic nearby. While waiting I was called back to my original doctor, the Orthapedic surgeon overheard the doctor talking about my situation in passing and became concerned and asked me to come in for a Compartment Syndrome test. I had it done and within 30 minutes I was being wheeled into an operating room. I had instant onset compartment syndrome of my thigh, Rhabdomyolysis (with a CK count of over 141,000), in total renal kidney failure, and upon opening me up, I had necrosis on 20% of my thigh. Doctor said I'm lucky it was caught in time because I could have lost my leg. Amazing how something simple can evolve into something pretty significant.

THANK YOU for realizing and speaking about a person as a WHOLE being. In today's medical field, we as patients, are being seen as pieces and parts and not as a whole being. This began with specialized medicine. A true physician should always see a patient as a whole being, whether or not they are seeing a " specialist ". Specialist are still physicians and as such should know and understand the whole human body well enough to help their patients even if it is not their " field ". Thank you again for addressing this issue.

My resting heart rate is anywhere between 90 and 120 (mostly around 110). My heart also slows down drastically every time I breathe out. I have generalised anxiety disorder. Is this dangerous?

Speaking on the irregularly irregular rhythm, Im a registered practical nurse working in LTC currently and I had this resident c/o of dizziness. Now this resident was often anxious and she was blaming it on an antidepressant. This resident was frail, barely ate or drank either. Now, I dont have much experience with arrythmias or anything but this resident had a hx of a-fib. When I listened to the heart it was beating all over the place just like the patient described. I was like she must be in active a-fib, HR was jumping all over from 90bpm-150bpm. Called family, on-call doctor and well, nothing was done lol. Doc showed no concern and family was just like yeah okay. All I could do was really just monitor the resident, encourage fluids and make sure she didnt get up. Later on the resident fell and broke a bone needing surgery, inside my head I was like theres no way she would survive a surgery. Resident died in recovery. This is why I want to work in the hospital. I want to actively treat medical conditions, I hate watching medical emergencies and not being able to do much for them 75% of the time.

Just thought I had eaten something bad at either breakfast or lunch. (not one to usually vomit) Around 7 pm still vomiting decided this isn't like me. Drove myself to the ER probably not the brightest idea, but still thought food poisoning and that really doesn't need a 911 call.
Get up to the ER nurse and again throw up into one of those disposable cardboard things. She sees the color I guess. Didn't even finish my paperwork that is how fast I got rushed into a room. Doctor is rushed in, IV starts etc etc. Rushed into an ambulance and transferred to a different hospital that specializes in cardiovascular medicine and under the knife all within 20 minutes of walking into the ER. Long story short turns out for the past 6ish hours I had been having a massive heart attack. That left me in ICU at a whooping 26% heart function. Had I only known early the amount of damaged I could of saved myself from had I known what to look for.
What I'm getting at Dr. Mike, since it relates to this video and the story you told. Could you do a giant service to you viewers. And do a video about the uncommon signs of a heart attack. Like in my case throwing up a blackish bile. People including myself at the time only seem to know the more common signs for example the arm going numb.

I've struggle with severe panic disorder and anxiety most of my life and have went to the hospital multiple times thinking j was having a heart attack and really wasnt. Well one time I was at the house and just could not breath. J thought I was having some sort of allergic reaction honestly so I called my mom, she came and got me and we took of to the hospital. We get there and the doctor remembers me and tells me "look you're just having another anxiety attack. Double up on your xanax and you'll be fine". I just knew something was off though. Sure enough walked out to the parking lot and that's all I remember from the on. I was quite young (25ish... I've always had heart problems) so I dont remember what exactly it was called but it was something to do with a blood clot that traveled somewhere it wasnt supposed to go. All they needed to do was on test rather than come to the waiting room and tell me I didnt need to be there.

                                                                          • camilla di gravina

I've been type 1 since I was a kid and it really bothers me when people mix the 2 up and make rude comments about me eating too much sugar because of ignorance

P.S. The bee isn't "Vomiting" the honey..... it has a special 'honey' stomach that converts the nectar into honey✌

Maybe because bees throw honey up, that's just how it works.

Your pronunciation is very understandable and your speed is perfect. Not too slow and unreal and not too fast like just a native can understand it. Thanks for adding subs!! Greetings from Colombia :)
