OLED on TV's is basically the best thing ever. The colours, the deep black, the insane contrast.... oh yeeeaaahhh. But is it still that good on a laptop?

        Im confused....
Should i get this or the razer blade stealth
Both laptops are great but im worried if the razer blade 15 is too big...
i know its a small 15.6 inch laptop but i still feel like it might be too big. The main reason i need this is for school work, productivity, watching netflix/youtube and casual light gaming. For anyone who has the razer blade 15, please say if it is too big or average sized...
Also whats better for school? this or the blade stealth? Someone pls reply coz i am rlly confused...

I still think for that much money, it should have been an 17 inch.
I dont get why they are so few 17" laptops. And even if they are, they have shit components....and even if you would want to have them with better components, their price just skyrockets to double of a 15" . I mean...putting things into compact frames isnt such a new technology anymore today. Everything is damn thin. One thing that is lacking is, how to cool those fast, thin things but Im not sure that those parts make the product expensive. I still think half of the price is still just paying for a brand.

FPS,racing or any fast moving game, high refresh rate is better. But for games like Divinity, xcom, or other moba, rts that use a chessboard view. 4K is way more detailed and satisfying.

I just bought one of these, when I game I use an external bigger screen and when I work as a tech engineer I use the 4K OLED touch display for multiple documents, multiple remote desktop sessions and a much better experience than some low-res piece of junk.
I know its expensive but if you want to play the best games and want to be able to work at a high resolution then this is the laptop for you. Go with the lower Hz 140 or 240 Hz if you just want to game and don't want the extra screen real estate and can't afford an extra display. I mean who doesn't use multiple displays these days anyway?

OLED at least on the phones has such ghosting it won't work with 120Hz or at least doesn't make any sense. Especially the pixel turn off and turn on times for blacks is definitely higher than that.

The dream laptop for me is high resolution, not 4k but 1440 or so oled display 14 inch laptop with extremely thin bezels. Good trackpad, nice keyboard (like thinkpad but with a normal layout) with at least USB A, C, HDMI, SD-card reader and audio port. To save some money it should just have a good processor and no separate graphics card.

If you're a gamer not on the tightest of budgets, buy a laptop with a 1080p 60 Hz display. Then buy monitor(s) to hook it up to: a 4K 60Hz panel and/or a 1440p 144Hz panel. It's probably still cheaper than this thing. Or you can get a laptop with the 120Hz or 140Hz display at 1080p and get one external 4K monitor.

The problem isn't with 4k displays, the problem is that 4k tech hasn't gotten to high frame rates yet

                                                        • Last time I was this early

The problem is that I don't know what OLED means.

OLED stands for Organic Light Emitting Diode. OLED is special because it has the ability to turn off pixels at any point, resulting in true blacks. Want more?

Kinda ironic that this is the first video I watch my new laptop on. (It's this one lol)

Apart from a few online games that aren't exactly pushing the graphics envelope, even hitting 60 fps in a new AAA-game at high settings is no joke. So I don't really get people's obsession with high refresh rates. Heck, in the fighting game scene no game even runs higher than 60hz, and those are some of the most competitive games out there.

I am still using and have been using 60Hz screens for a awhile without issue. I guess if I was a competitive gamer? (What does that mean?) it would make a difference but most of us or not competitive gamers? right?

If you're using any media that has static elements, like menus or HUDs, which would be Windows and other browsers, and also videogames that you could be playing for hours, it will retain over time. - I have a Plasma TV, and although it might be a different technology, there are channel icons and lines from subtitles in the image, which all show up in even/solid images, like when there's a lot of black or white around those areas, and especially stand out when most of the image is even. - The burn-in test on and OLED shown in this video looks very similar, if not worse, and you just don't want that. - I fully agree with a 1440p LCD for a laptop. That would be about perfect.

Then one day I was dog sitting in a house that had one. Problem: nothing looked real. Camera footage looked kind of CG. Interesting to see you point out the tec shortfalls. Funny how Samsung have not gone with OLED in their TV's yet...
