One of the best options right now for barebones builds. Good pricing combined with Amazon's return policy.

Another great video. I just got a Y740 15". I saw your video on that too, but how would you compare the two in terms of value. I think Lenovo is a better brand overall no?

9ms response time still too slow if they wanna cut down on price is it possible to use a 100or 120hz instead of 144hz to afford a screen that has a 5 to 7 ms response time ?

Tongfang used to be the top local brand in China. However these years it's not so popular in China because they don't advertise a lot. However they still do very good job. They have their own moulds for gaming laptops and provide them to many other pc manufacturers. The price of their gaming laptops are quite cheap. The unique rgb light and the keyboard are pretty good characteristics. I think the models in China are much more beautiful. They even build some quite thin gaming laptops with very good temperature control. While their weakness is that they don't have the best quality control and customer service like lenovo and apple. So Tongfang is quite like MSI as a pc manufacturer.

My complaint about all of these new laptops is that they are way over priced. The average gamer or anyone who is just getting in to doing anything with graphics can not afford a laptop that costs more than $1000. And the 'budget' laptops that cost around $1000 have 6th or 7th gen Intel CPUs with GTX 900 series graphics or maybe the 1050 or 1060 which were at least a couple generations ago (which is like 3 to 4 years ago). I have a Dell that I bought two years ago for $900 that has a GTX 960 in it. When I bought it, it was already outdated by at least two years! It's still an OK laptop to use for basic stuff but if I choose to game on it, I will have to set my graphics to 720p to even get any kind of performance!

I just feel that these companies are ripping consumers off. There's no way it costs them over $1000 to build these high end laptops! They're just conning people in to believing these computers are worth that much. You can build a desktop and it would cost you half as much. That should tell you right there that something is amiss.

@God's Word Evangelism yeah or they dump money into the wrong stuff..like 32 gigs of ram..or give you a hard drive or something..ill theyll up it up with premium ports..which honestly all you really need is like 3-4 3.1 ports..or they put it into the looks of the chassis..in the future i recommend you go to places that sell clevo/tong fang chassis..xotic pc gots good clevos with good hardware..I bought this Eluktronics Mech 17 with a 9750h 2070 Max-P with 144 hz 9ms IPS..512 nvme..well reviewed mechanical keyboard and an additional m.2 slot for more expansion..for 1700 no tax..because it came from delaware..1500 for 2060..1350 for 1660ti..point being thse types of third party builders can sometimes have really good deals for the hardware you get..and the mechs got great cooling too..so your laptop will last years xotic pc you can find some clevos with your specs for under 1200..and if you dont live in the state..no tax counted..i think they are nebraska..but you raelly must look and find these types of sites and laptops..as the mainstream guys..really over price alot as you say..i just looked at some laptops..and they are really poor value compared to what i got..but people tend to feel safer with name brand stuff..but its reviews..on temps and power throttling and screen and overall quality that should be the focus not brand..and i feel lots of people throw trust into the brand from past experience..that and im sure they pay for the marketing that goes into it..lol all those dumb pictures of soldiers with the laptop..like ugh..who buys because of that!

It wouldn't have made a difference. I didn't have the money anyway. I only get to spend that kind of money once a year at tax time and I try to make my money go as far as possible. There are many people out there just like me who can't afford to waste more than $1000 on any PC. This was the point I was trying to make. The big PC companies know the needs of the consumers and they exploit those needs and price point their product as high as possible, then force the consumers to spend money they don't really have. They don't care about the consumers, only their pocketbooks. Greed my friend, that's all it is.

@God's Word Evangelism i agree with you..alot of lap tops are too expensive..but this one with the 17.3 2070 p..what i bought..is good for money..however man you should have bought the helios 300 on prime day..9750h..1660ti..144hz 3ms IPS 256 nmve with a second open m.2 slot..and a 2.5 if you want that as well..its normally 1200 which is good..but dang i wish i found you on sunday and told you to go buy that..thats what i was going to get..but i wanted a desktop filler..because I dont want to build a 5/6 year system on turing or intels prolonged 14nm skylake..id prefer to wait for intel 7nm euv and invidia either 7 nm or 5 nm eux..though im guessint tsms and errbody else be on 5nm euv by time intel hits 7nm..but yeah i was looking at other lap tops ..and alot were just pricey..or had thermal issues..or something like that

I have a desktop! My point is that laptops are way overpriced for what's under the hood...and just to put PCs in to perspective, desktops and laptops are used for very different things. You build a desktop for at home gaming, to use as a media server, to use for at home or in office work...a laptop is used as an 'on the go' device for work, schooling, and casual gaming. I have a desktop with a Ryzen 5 2600X, GTX 1660 Ti, 16GB RAM, and a AsRock X370 Killer Sli Motherboard. I'd like to have a laptop with close to the same specs and the closest one I've found is the HP Omen 15 for $1100. That's roughly what I spent to build my desktop.

Wonder how things will change after 5 more years, when I'll change it if it doesn't break until then.. My priorities will be the ports, display and low fan noise.

with respect , its not even worth having a laptop with high specifications implemented such as a 2070 and i7 - i9 ... Those temps are not the real deal ether at 4:23 , or rather not enough info or variety of temperature testing . I own a mech G2 , with the 1060 and i7 8750h, and already hit temps of 95 degrees on load. 85 on idle . my performance was reduced to 70% max so im not getting the max performance I payed for , yes , thermal paste was replaced , etc , and there was a second mech g2 model tested also with same outcome, I had to eventually undervolt the CPU to remain at 75 degrees. Its a great solid make , nice keyboard , nice features . and best value for money , but its like putting a 16 Cylinder 8.0-Liter engine in a shop trolley. So my opinion for a laptop make would be to have a lower core count CPU imbedded , such as the i5 , and GTX 1050 or 1050ti as you are getting your max performance out of that without the worry of thermal throttling . Anything higher , well thats where a desktop comes handy.

They briefly had some 15" models at 1 location, but were gone within minutes. Me Thinks they threw in the towel and refocused back to forcing mom and pop shops and supermarkets out of business.

Those are all great companys. The new ROG Zephyrus G Ultra Slim is interesting as well with the new ryzen 3rd gen cpu's and a 1660ti paired with a 120hz g sync screen at $1300 on ebay. For $2000 basically what you want to look for is an attractive laptop with thin bezels, good thermal temps, a 2070 or a 2080 if you wait for the prices to drop a bit. Also make sure the cpu is an i7 8750h, i7 9750h or wait for the new cpu's to launch. At least 16gb 2666mhz or higher ram. If you can afford it the 32gb is always nice but 16gb is plenty for most users. And for $2000 the screen better have gsync and be 1080p 144hz, 1440p 120hz/144hz, or 4k 60hz. For ssd storage, i always felt 512gb was enough for most people but 1tb is nice too.
